In my opinion simply the best game on the Wii. Nintendo really should have installed the option to protect saved game data with a PIN but they haven't, you can set a PIN to access the internet or certain age rated games. My biggest gripe with the game is that because of the WiFi mode you can't back up your saved data to SD card which means if the data is accidently wiped you have to start from the very beginning again, this has happened a few times when my young son has been playing in the wii settings menu. There is also a WiFi mode where you can connect to Nintendo Online and compete against other players accross the world. Using the included wheel makes the game control easier as it feels more natural than control by a joystick, certainly for us occasional gamers.

Plenty of powerups and weapons mean this isn't just a race to be first past the post but loads of fun as you get blasted by homing shells or spin out of control on a patch of oil. There are 8 cups to compete in, each having 4 tracks, initally only 4 cups are palyable once you've completed the cups and come at least third more cups unlock. Initially there's 3 different types of vehicle to choose from but as you progress you unlock more. There's three power modes 50cc, 100cc or 150cc. There are numerous options in the game, firstly you get to pick from loads of characters from the mario series and also some new ones, a few need to be unlocked as you progress. Unbelievably good fun, especially if you don't take racing seriously and enjoy the thrills and spills of racing, crashing, blasting and getting blasted.
